Week 3 of the challenge was The Tree of Life.
The plot via Wikipedia:
"The Tree of Life is a 2011 American drama film with experimental elements written and directed by Terrence Malick and starring Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, and Jessica Chastain. Malick's film chronicles the origins and meaning of life by way of a middle-aged man's childhood memories of his family living in 1950s Texas, interspersed with imagery of the origins of the universe and the inception of life on Earth."
Ok, where do I begin? I'll just say we didn't make it half way through this movie before we had to turn it off. It was really hard to watch. It was constantly switching from one scene to another, without any of them making any sense. And then things got really weird. I'm not even really sure what was going on. We kept saying let's give it a few more minutes, and then a few more, waiting for it to get better. But it didn't. I don't know, maybe we were missing something, but I didn't get it. I'm not sure how it was nominated for Best Picture, but apparently somebody liked it.
Have any of you seen it? What did you think?
